The soft launch was grace with the presents of our Malaysian favorite comedian, Harith Iskander as the MC. Charming us with his witty jokes. Welcoming speech from the owner of Galah Gala Seafood Restaurant. Sharing his family background and what drives them to achieve their dream restaurant they have today. Very inspiring indeed! Congratulations again on the big step to better food in Malaysian F&B!

By expanding their wing in bringing a new idea and exclusive dining experience to consumers with over 25 years of experience in F&B from their main roots - Greenview Restaurant. Green View Restaurant has been a crowd-favorite in Petaling Jaya for its signature Sang Har Noodles and other seafood since 1993. Therefore, you'll know you will get the best-cooked Chinese-style seafood in town!

Now, let's talk about FOOD!

Galah Gala Seafood Restaurant Review

First of all, let me tell you this. The dishes that I had the chance to try, were absolutely delectable! The presentation of the dishes was spot-on. I mean, looking at the dishes themselves without actually putting them in your mouth yet can give you a foodgasm. You'll be salivating knowing that it will taste oh-so-good! I kid you not!  Writing this now is making me hungry and wanting more! Haha 😜 I might go back sooner than I think.

Okay, let's stop rambling, and let me introduce to you the dishes I've tried!

Starter: House Special Honey Squid & Salted Egg Fried Pumpkin

Galah Gala Seafood Restaurant Review

House Special Honey Squid - You might think the honey-glazed squid will be all squishy & mushy by the time it gets to your table but nope, it's as CRISPY as it gets! The sweet taste from the honey with a bit of tangy sour pang on the side. Maybe from their special sauce? It was really something unique.

And for the squid itself,  while it's crispy on the outside, it sort of melts inside your mouth. Not chewy at all.  Though I'm not a fan of squid, this got me hooked!

Overall: 4⭐⭐⭐

Salted Egg Fried Pumpkin - Julienne cut, fried to perfection. Salty & crispy on the outside, sweet & soft creamy on the inside. Perfect combo complementing each other flavor. Immaculate starter to lift up your mood for what comes next.

And since I love both salted egg and pumpkin, it's extra 💝 for me.

Overall: 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Main Course: Sichuan Beancurd Broth, Signature Sang Har Noodle ( Fresh Water Prawn Noodle ), Kapitan Mix Seafood, Yuan Yang Hong Kong Kailan (kailan fried in two style)

Galah Gala Seafood Restaurant Review

Sichuan Beancurd Broth - A bit peculiar for my taste bud, with slightly different textures. It's a  little starchy and a bit sour with a spicy twist for my preference. The hit of spice comes from the Sichuan Peppercorn, I presumed. Maybe because I'm not a fan of broth, but hey you need to try it and evaluate yourself okay! It's a 50-50 for my liking.

 Overall: 2.5 ⭐⭐⭐★

Signature Sang Har Noodle - Just look at the size of that humongous Fresh River Prawn! It's as big as my hand 😂 This is by far my favorite dish, the fresh, succulent, soft prawn cooked to perfection. Smothered with the well-seasoned sauce.  The Crispy Egg Wantan Noodles and Spring Onion complement each other. The whole combination is just wholesome and satisfying.!

If you're not a fan of noodles, you can opt for Rice if I'm not mistaken.  This is surely a MUST-TRY dish if you come here! Believe me, you won't regret it.

 Overall: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kapitan Mix Seafood - You certainly need to eat this with hot steamy white rice. A bit milder on the spicy side, the juicy mix of seafood of fish, squid, and prawn. The complete seafood umami for you within this dish. A hit of spicy, sour, salty, and sweet all in one!

To those who don't know what Kapitan tastes like?
It is the least spicy Malaysian curry, which is ideal for anyone unable to bear the heat from other fiercely hot curries. So you will expect to savor a pot of milder curry with only half the quantity of chili with fresh ingredients like turmeric, shrimp paste, palm sugar, and tamarind

 Overall: 4 ⭐⭐⭐

Yuan Yang Hong Kong Kailan - This uniquely cooked Kailan is a Kailan fried in two styles. That's not seaweed guys! It's actually fried shredded / thin-cut Kailan. Since they are using the Hong Kong Kailan, it doesn't have the bitter taste at the end of your bite like our local Kailan does. A YES for Kailan for me!

 Overall: 4.5⭐⭐⭐

Steamed Sea Grouper with Superior Soy Sauce - To be honest, I am not a fan of fish. 😂 Especially if it is steamed, but with this dish with soy sauce. I did finish the whole thing. It's the freshest taste ever. The fish is so juicy and doesn't have that fishy smell that turns you off ( you know what I mean😛) The tangy fermented soy sauce, and the garnishing of shredded chili, coriander, and spring onion is a great addition. You got to try this if you're a fan of FISH!

 Overall: 4⭐⭐⭐

Dessert: Mango Pomelo Sago

Galah Gala Seafood Restaurant Review

Mango Pomelo Sago - Dessert time! This is so satisfyingly good! The thick creamy sweet tangy mango with pieces of dice-cut mangoes, pomelo jelly, and sago is so refreshing! It would taste a lot better if they were served in a colder temp. It would definitely cleanse your palate after a spicy meal. I would eat this for seconds! 😋

 Overall: 4.5⭐⭐⭐
